The Goal

Match all colour pairs with as few moves as possible.

How to Play

  • All tiles flash face-up briefly — memorise them!
  • They flip over. Tap any two tiles to reveal them.
  • If they match, they stay revealed. If not, they flip back.
  • Match all pairs to win. Fewer moves = higher score!

The Goal

Repeat the panel sequence — one extra step is added each round.

How to Play

  • Watch the coloured panels light up in sequence.
  • Tap the same panels in the same order.
  • Each correct round adds one more step.
  • You have limited lives — wrong tap = lose a life!
  • On higher difficulties, an input timer limits your reaction time.

Difficulty Changes

📖 How to Play Memory ZAP

Memory ZAP is a visual pattern memory game where you watch a sequence of cells light up on a grid and then reproduce the exact sequence from memory. The sequence starts short and grows longer with each successful round, testing the limits of your working memory and pattern recall under progressively increasing pressure.

The game is inspired by the classic Simon electronic game but elevated with dynamic grid sizes, multi-colour sequences, and a pattern structure that rewards players who build mental chunking strategies rather than memorising individual cell positions.

Difficulty in Memory ZAP scales through grid size, sequence length starting point, sequence speed (how quickly cells flash), and the number of colours used. A single-colour 5×5 grid with a slow four-cell starting sequence is beginner territory. A full-colour 11×11 grid with a fast eight-cell starting sequence — Cyborg difficulty — requires genuinely remarkable working memory or very clever chunking.

Memory ZAP is one of the best pure cognitive training games in the Cliko catalogue. Research on memory training games consistently shows that n-back style tasks (remember and reproduce sequences) improve working memory performance. Memory ZAP delivers this training in a format that is engaging rather than clinical.

The daily challenge presents a fixed sequence that is the same for all players. Your maximum sequence length before your first error is your daily score. Challenge friends to beat your sequence length using the standard Cliko challenge link. With sessions lasting as little as two minutes and as long as you want to keep pushing your limit, Memory ZAP is one of the most versatile games on Cliko Games.

From Beginner to Cyborg ☠ — seven difficulty levels grow with you. Change difficulty any time using the dropdown at the top of the page.

💡 Tips & Strategies

🧠
Think Ahead
Chunk the sequence into groups of three or four cells, like remembering phone numbers in segments.
Start Simple
Use spatial anchoring — assign mental labels to grid regions (top-left corner, center, etc.) to aid recall.
🎯
Daily First
Narrate the sequence aloud or sub-vocally — adding verbal encoding to visual memory improves retention.
🔄
Use Restart
Between rounds, actively rehearse the sequence rather than waiting passively for the next flash.
📈
Track Your Best
As sequences get long, focus extra attention on the last few cells — serial position effect makes the end hardest.
