Euchre is a 4-player partnership trick-taking game. You and your partner (across the table) compete against two AI opponents. First team to 10 points wins the match.
Euchre uses a 24-card deck — 9, 10, J, Q, K, A in each of the four suits. Five cards are dealt to each player, and one card is turned face-up to propose trump.
The turned-up card's suit is proposed as trump. In the first round, each player can "Order it up" (accept that suit as trump) or "Pass." If all pass, a second round lets players name any OTHER suit as trump. The team that calls trump is the makers — they must win at least 3 tricks.
The Right Bower (Jack of trump) is the highest card. The Left Bower (Jack of the same color) is the second highest. These two Jacks outrank everything — even Aces of trump.
The player left of the dealer leads the first trick. You must follow suit if you can. If you can't, you may play any card (including trump). The highest card of the led suit wins — unless trump is played, in which case the highest trump wins.
Makers win 3-4 tricks: +1 point. All 5 tricks (march): +2 points. Makers fail (euchred): opponents get +2. Going alone and winning all 5: +4 points.
